1010 NES Visit Reports

James Bond - aka Wing Commander Ken Wallis -
takes to the air again!!

The visit to Reymerston Hall, the home of one of our distinguished Honorary Members, the legendary Wing Commander Wallis, on April 22nd was truly an eye opener as to what one person can achieve. His unbounded enthusiasm led us through his workshop within the Hall and eventually to his collection of 18 working autogyros plus other engineering items he had collected over the years to form a small museum reflecting his life and interests. One of the highlights of our visit, by over 30 members, was to see the Wing Commander taxiing down his driveway to the take-off field where he gave an inspiring display of the capabilities of autogyros in general and his collection in particular. A photo of Ken Wallis is shown over to the left.    Click here for more photos

It will be such a pity that all this knowledge will be lost with the passing of Ken Wallis!! If any members have photos that they would like to mount on our site just email an electronic copy (jpeg or gif) as an attachment to:    r.v.aldridge@dsl.pipex.com                                             Ray Allen    April 2009
